Twitter

Page history last edited by Stewart Cutler 1 yr ago

Sometimes people don't get a chance to say all they want to say.  Sometimes we think of something after the session is over.  Sometimes we want to make a comment without interupting the speaker.  Sometimes we just want to share a thought...

During NYA2008 we'll be using a web tool called Twitter to allow you to comment and ask questions about anything that's going on.

To take part you need to sign up for Twitter HERE if you don't already have an account.  It's FREE.

Just follow the sign up instructions.  Make sure that once you have your username set up that you click option 3 to TURN ON YOUR MOBILE PHONE and enter your mobile number.  The UK country code is +44.  Take note of the number twitter asks you to text confirmation to (save it in you contacts).  You can now post tweets from your mobile using texts to that mobile number! (texts cost 1 standard text at your network rate and count as free if you have a text package)

Make sure that you DON'T click the 'protect my tweets' on the home page or no-one will be able to see your thoughts.

We'll be using the Twitter search facility to gather your 'tweets' so test it out by updating your status, either online or by text, and include 'nya2008' in your text after you have signed up.

NYA2008 is also tweeting!  Follow NYA2008 at http://twitter.com/nya2008

The search website is http://search.twitter.com/.  Just search for nya2008 and see who else is online and what they are saying.  Twitter also has a mobile site at m.twitter.com so you can keep up to date using your phone throughout the event.

During the debates just add the keyword of the debate in your text and we'll get your comments and questions

  • Media debate text Twitter with nya2008media

  • Relationships debate text Twitter with nya2008relate

  • Sustainable Living debate text Twitter with nya2008live

  • Future Church debate text Twitter with nya2008church

Blogging

If you have a blog and you will be blogging about NYA2008 then post a tweet to Twitter with keyword NYA2008blogs and we'll link to all the blogs about the event.

Don't worry if you don't get what we're talking about.  We'll explain all at NYA2008.
